Number of duplicate elements in a list

There is an array with a bunch of duplicate elements. I need to output the content of a specific element of this array and how many of the same elements are in it (output the number).
Example array:
array = [""Bob"", ""Alex"", ""Bob"", ""John""] (like 2 Bobs, etc.)

When running makemessage, strings with a close msgid are marked as fuzzy. Such strings do not end up in the final *.mo from *.po, as they are presumably incorrect. They need to be corrected and the fuzzy flag removed.
