How to avoid Java code (scriptlet) in JSP files when using JSP 2?
Hello, colleagues! I'm a beginner Java developer and trying to clean up my old Java EE project. The problem is that my JSP pages have turned into a real dump. I use scriptlets (<% ... %>) everywhere: database connections, date formatting, and tons of conditional statements. For example, here's a typical snippet from my index.jsp:
```jsp
<%
List users = (List) request.getAttribute("users");
for (User user : users) {
out.println("");
out.println("" + user.getName() + " ");
out.println("" + (user.isActive() ? "Active" : "Inactive") + " ");
out.println(" ");
}
%>
```
I understand that this is bad practice: the code is unreadable, hard to maintain, and designers can't work properly with it.
