Why does Java execute code written in comments using Unicode characters?
Hi everyone! I'm new to Java and encountered a strange behavior that I can't explain. I was trying to write a simple "Hello, World!" program, but accidentally discovered that code inside comments can be executed if you use Unicode escape sequences.
Here's an example that confused me:
```java
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
// \u000d System.out.println("This executes!");
System.out.println("Hello, World!");
}
}
```
When I ran this code, two lines appeared in the console: "This executes!" and "Hello, World!". But the first line is a comment! How is this possible? I thought comments are ignored by the compiler.
I've read that this is related to how Java handles Unicode, but I don't understand the details.
