Encoding text to arbitrary binary code and back. Example: "A" <-> "01100011"

I need to convert a string, for example ""А"", into a binary code string, for example ""01100011"", then process the binary code a bit by passing it through an "Exclusive OR" function with another binary code, for example ""01100011"" with ""11000010"", then it will output ""10100001"", and convert the resulting code back into a readable string, for example into ""Т"".

At the same time, I want to use Russian, English, and Ukrainian layouts and digits, with punctuation marks. Could you tell me how to do this in Python 3?

The question is how to convert a string to binary code and back in Python using any encoding algorithm?
