How to work with strings in TypeScript?
Hello everyone! I recently started learning TypeScript and encountered some difficulties when working with strings. In JavaScript, I'm used to using methods like split(), replace(), includes() and others, but in TypeScript, as I understand, there are some peculiarities due to strict typing. Please advise how to properly work with strings in TypeScript?
Specifically, I'm interested in the following points:
- How to declare string variables with types (for example,
let name: string = 'John') and what alternatives exist? - How to use template literals for variable interpolation and multiline strings?
- How to safely convert strings to numbers and other types to avoid runtime errors?
