Top JavaScript (Node.js) Developer Jobs in 2025

The JavaScript development market continues to transform. In 2025, the demand for Node.js specialists will not just remain high — it will shift towards niche and high-tech areas. We analyzed data from Western and Russian platforms (LinkedIn, hh.ru, Habr Career) and identified five key areas where employers are willing to pay premiums.

1. Fullstack Engineer with an AI Focus (Node.js + Python)

The boundary between backend and data science is blurring. Employers are looking for developers who can not only write a REST API on Express but also integrate ready-made AI models (OpenAI, Llama, YandexGPT). In 2025, a typical stack for such a vacancy includes:

  • Node.js + TypeScript for building the backend;
  • Python (minimum level) for working with ML pipelines;
  • PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ;
  • Experience with LangChain or similar frameworks.

Salary range: from 350,000 to 600,000 RUB (for Middle/Senior).

2. Microservices Architect on Node.js

Companies are moving from monoliths to distributed systems, but not everyone handles proper design. This is where a specialist is needed who understands graceful shutdown, Saga and CQRS patterns, and knows how to work with gRPC and NATS. This is not just "writing code," but designing a system that won't crash under a load of 100k RPS.

  • Required: Docker, Kubernetes, experience with observability (Prometheus, Grafana);
  • Preferred: experience rewriting legacy backends from Java/C# to Node.js.

3. Serverless Solutions Developer (AWS Lambda + Node.js)

Serverless is no longer hype — it's the standard for startups. In 2025, companies are looking for engineers who can build a serverless application from idea to deployment without thinking about servers. Key technologies:

  • AWS Lambda / Cloudflare Workers / Yandex Cloud Functions;
  • DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway;
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK).

Average salary level: 280,000 – 450,000 RUB.

4. Node.js Backend for Real-Time Applications

The sector of live streams, online games, collaborative editors (Google Docs-like), and crypto terminals requires developers who know WebSocket, Socket.io, and WebRTC firsthand. There is separate demand for memory and event loop optimization, as any delay here costs money.

  • Deep knowledge of async/await, EventEmitter, Streams;
  • Experience with Redis Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ;
  • Load testing (k6, Artillery).

5. Node.js Developer + Blockchain (Web3)

The Web3 sector is gradually recovering, and Node.js remains the main language for smart contracts and decentralized applications. In 2025, employers are looking not just for "coders," but for developers who understand the architecture of DeFi and NFT marketplaces.

  • Ethers.js, Web3.js, Hardhat;
  • Knowledge of EVM, Solidity (at least reading);
  • Integration
