C# (.NET) 2025 Learning Plan: Where to Start Learning
The world of programming does not stand still, and in 2025, the C# language along with the .NET platform remains one of the most in-demand tools for creating web applications, desktop programs, and games. If you are considering starting in this ecosystem, our step-by-step learning plan will help you systematize your knowledge and avoid common beginner mistakes.
Stage 1: C# Basics and Syntax (2–3 weeks)
- Data types, variables, and constants;
- Conditional operators (if, switch);
- Loops (for, while, foreach);
- Methods and parameters (ref, out);
- Arrays and strings.
Tip: Start by installing Visual Studio Community or Rider. Solve simple tasks on Codewars or LeetCode.
Stage 2: Object-Oriented Programming (2–3 weeks)
- Classes and objects;
- Inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation;
- Abstract classes and interfaces;
- Generics;
- Exceptions (try-catch-finally).
This is the foundation without which it is impossible to move forward. Pay special attention to interfaces — they are actively used in .NET.
Stage 3: .NET Platform and ASP.NET Core (4–6 weeks)
- Introduction to .NET (CLR, JIT, garbage collection);
- Working with NuGet packages;
- ASP.NET Core basics: controllers, routing;
- Entity Framework Core (ORM for working with databases);
- REST API and Swagger.
At this stage, you will be able to create full-fledged web services. We recommend studying SQL and the basics of relational databases in parallel.
Stage 4: Additional Technologies (3–4 weeks)
- Blazor (web framework in C#);
- WPF or MAUI (desktop and mobile applications);
- Testing (xUnit, NUnit);
- Version control systems (Git, GitHub);
- Docker and CI/CD basics.
Choose one specialization (web, desktop, or games via Unity) and dive deeper into it.
Stage 5: Practice and Portfolio
Theory without practice is dead. Create 2–3 projects:
- A simple CRM system on ASP.NET Core;
- A Telegram bot in C#;
- A notes application with a database.
Upload the code to GitHub and write an article on PythonLib about your experience — this will increase the visibility of your portfolio.
Why C# in 2025?
The .NET ecosystem is actively developing: new versions with improved performance are being released, AOT compilation support, and integration with Azure cloud services. The demand for .NET developers is consistently high, especially in the Enterprise sector and fintech. You can start learning from scratch — all you need is a basic understanding of algorithms and a desire to learn.
