What versions of C# exist and how do they relate to versions of .NET and Visual Studio?
Hello everyone! I'm a beginner C# developer and I constantly get confused about language versions. When I google some features, I see mentions of C# 7.0, C# 8.0, C# 9.0 and so on. Meanwhile, I have Visual Studio 2022 installed and a project on .NET 6. I don't understand which version of C# is currently relevant and which version I'm using.
For example, I want to use tuples with named elements, but my code doesn't compile:
```csharp
var person = (Name: "Alice", Age: 30);
Console.WriteLine(person.Name);
```
Error: "Feature 'tuple' is not available in C# 6. Please use language version 7.0 or greater."
I thought that if I have .NET 6, the latest version of C# is automatically used. It turns out that's not the case? Or did I configure something incorrectly? I've also heard about C# 10, C# 11 and even C# 12. Can you
