What is the difference between fold and reduce in Kotlin and when to use which?
Hello everyone! I just started learning Kotlin and switched from Java. I'm reading the documentation on collections and came across two functions: fold and reduce. According to the description, they both do something similar — iterate over list elements and accumulate a result. But I can't understand the fundamental difference between them.
Here's an example I wrote:
```kotlin
val numbers = listOf(1, 2, 3, 4)
val sumWithFold = numbers.fold(0) { acc, i -> acc + i }
val sumWithReduce = numbers.reduce { acc, i -> acc + i }
println("Fold: $sumWithFold") // 10
println("Reduce: $sumWithReduce") // 10
```
Both give the same result. But I noticed that fold takes an initial value, while reduce does not. When I tried to use reduce on an empty list, it threw an exception. And fold with
