Converting String to Integer (Int) in Swift: Complete Guide
Hi everyone! I'm new to Swift and trying to figure out converting strings to integers. I have a string from a text field, for example "123", and I need to convert it to Int for mathematical operations. I tried using Int("123"), but it doesn't always work, and I don't understand why.
Here's an example of my code:
```swift
let textFieldValue = "42"
let number = Int(textFieldValue)
print(number) // Prints Optional(42), not 42
```
I expected `number` to be just `42`, but I get `Optional(42)`. Why is this happening? How do I properly convert a string to Int to get a regular number instead of an optional value? And what should I do if the string contains invalid data, like "abc" or an empty string?
I've tried several approaches: `Int("123")!` — but
